An engagement ring is a HUGE investment, both emotionally and financially. And if your partner is making this purchase they will want to pop the question with a ring you’ll love for your lifetime together, and generations to come! So why not give them a gentle push in the right direction? Dropping hints the right way can help make sure you and your life partner are aligned when it comes to engagement ring styles. This way, he or she will feel more confident and secure in what you will like. And you won’t feel guilt or shame for not liking whatever is inside that tiny box.
Below are 3 great ways to drop hints:
1. Pin It!
Pinterest is a great resource for channeling major ring inspiration. Once you have a clear idea on the engagement ring style you’d like (cut, clarity, band style, shank, pave are all great terms to search!), save these pins to a board and share it with your significant other. This can either be done by sharing a public board’s link or inviting them to be a collaborator on a private board.

2. Send A DM (Direct Message on Social Media)
While there are many ways to drop hints, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter -- these social media platforms make the process more straightforward than ever! Rather than tagging your significant other in an Instagram post, send it to them via direct message so they can reference it later. This way they can easily go back to their messages and know exactly what it is that your preferences are.
Tip!: If you’re still narrowing down engagement ring design styles, we suggest taking advantage of Instagram’s saving feature (noted by a little tab icon). Save your favorites to an “Engagement Ring Inspiration” collection (which is similar to a Pinterest board via Instagram). Only direct message your final picks to your significant other.

3. Create a Wishlist and Share
After you’ve created your ideal engagement ring, or have an idea of the style you like, whether custom or drawing inspiration from an influencer, friend, or random photo on social media, easily share the final product(s) with your significant other using our Wishlist feature! Let S. Lennon do all the heavy lifting!
Tip!: Use the message field in your email to give your hint some cute context, i.e. “Look at the beautiful ring I created. Should I be a jewelry designer? I’m in love with it!”
